Backsplashes

A ceramic, stone, or glass installation completes the kitchen.

Whether you choose ceramic tile, glass, or stone, each backsplash is built piece by piece. It’s hands on work with no shortcuts that can often take a number of days to complete. The finished installation will provide both aesthetic beauty and a durable and hygienic surface.

Stone tile is often the perfect finishing touch for a kitchen backsplash. Unlike ceramic tile and glass tile, stone tile will need to be sealed. This is an easy wipe-on, wipe-off task that is done at the time of installation. Grout is always sealed, no matter which tile that you choose. While stone is fine for most kitchens, it is not suitable for commercial kitchen workspaces.

Ceramic tile is the easiest to maintain in a working kitchen. Generally, these tiles will not absorb any stains and will easily wipe clean. Tiles with a crackle glaze should be given a good coat of sealer to prevent stains from penetrating the surface. Grout should always be treated with sealer in a kitchen setting.

Glass tile comes in a great variety of shapes and vibrant colors. The surface is very hard and resists scratches and stains. While grout must be sealed in a kitchen setting, glass tile is easy to clean and does not need sealant. It is, however, difficult to cut. Which makes glass the most expensive material to install.
